Nelson L. Render

Nelson, an Atlanta native, attended FAMU and performed in the marching, concert, and jazz bands. He studied with Lindasy Seargent until he transferred. Nelson received further azz training from Dr. Donald Byrd while attending Delaware State University. “ I truly learned the Jazz life through Bryd. He taught more than music, that is what I will always treasure.” He toured cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC with the jazz group 3 Guys So Far from 1994- 1997.

Nelson returned to Atlanta in 1997 and started a career as a band director. “ I put a lot of my focus on providing the students high quality instruction.”

Nelson regularly performs in Atlanta and the southeastern United States with his Jazz group, The PR Experience. Nelson also currently tours with The Ohio Players. Nelson has performed and recorded with various nationally recognized artists such as Otis Brown III, Wycliffe Gordan, Heston, Curtis Whitehead, Reggie Hines, James Seda, Gary Harris, Dee Lucas, Daniel Solaaman, Kimberly Holloway,Nick Hagelin, Kemba Cofield, Teddy White, A London Arrington, Trendle Thomas, Hudson on Bass, Ced, Rhonda Thomas, Madoca, William Green, and Lelah James.
