Ambient Musiq

Ambient formed in 2005 when three talented and gifted musicians began performing for small dinner parties and social events in and around the city of Peoria, IL. Walt Herrod on keys, Andy Hendrix on bass and James Ware on drums. The sound of Ambient is soulful and jazzy…at times some say their sound is spiritual in a way.

Ambient continued to gain a diverse following in Central Illinois over the next year, performing for music festivals and being the house band for Chef Leo’s Poetry Bistro in Peoria,… this talented trio even had the privilege in 2006 of being the opening band for legendary R&B artist Dionne Warwick. Yet…James, Andy and Walt felt something was missing. The band auditioned several musicians trying to complete the Ambient sound. Attempting to find a skillful artist with a positive attitude and matching character proved to be a daunting task.

Finally, it happened…almost like he fell from the heavens…saxophone player Mike Burrell was invited to a rehearsal and immediately, Mike fit Ambient like a glove! “This is it…he’s who we’ve been looking for”, the members of Ambient said. From that day forward Ambient began to compose more original tunes exploring the added diversity that Mike brought to the family.

Smooth alto and tenor sax tones blended with abstract piano chords dancing over funky bass grooves knit together with tight drums " Ambient continues to deliver amazing heartfelt performances with skill and professionalism.
