Kai Hoffman

'The Queen of Swing!’ – Ian Shaw, (BBC Jazz Awards winner Best Vocalist 2004 & 2007)

'Kai is one of the most authentic sounding vocalists on the scene today – and puts her music across with great swing, talent and entertainment.' – Ray Gelato (Winner of Ronnie Scott’s Best Band & Radio 2 Best Jazz Vocalist Nominee)

American jazz singer, recording artist and Queen of the Vintage Vocals Miss Kai Hoffman has been resident at Ronnie Scott’s in London – one of the oldest jazz clubs in the world - since 2008 with her fabulous swing and jump jive band, Kai’s Cats. A Time Out Critic's Choice club night, Kai’s ‘Live & Let Jive’ is every first Thursday at Ronnie Scott's Bar. Since 2010, Kai has also had the pleasure of working with Ronnie Scott’s Best Band winners, Ray Gelato and The Giants – with whom she released the album, Hey Boy! Hey Girl! in 2011. In 2012, she formed an additional band, the Kai Hoffman Quartet, to explore more contemporary jazz idioms alongside the swingin' tunes of Kai's Cats. The Quartet received rave reviews at the 2012 London Jazz Festival and their debut album will be released in March, 2013. From the Sheraton Hotel in Bangladesh to the Royal Albert Hall in London – with The Blue Note, Milan, Italy, and London's Ronnie Scott’s Club, The 606 Club & The 100 Club in between – Kai has developed a truly authentic vocal style, reminiscent of the greatest jazz singers of the 20th Century.

Hoffman was raised in Boston but has been based on London for some years, hosting regular club nights at Ronnie Scott's Club since 2008. Her striking visual image is matched by her musical style--which results from her ...
