Read "I Love You Computer Mountain" reviewed by Ian Patterson

While pretty much all music is derivative, and to a greater or lesser degree inspired by what has gone before, every so often a band appears that shakes up the status quo. Harry Lookofsky: Stringsville

Harry Lookofsky: Stringsville

I'm not a big jazz violin guy. No matter how you slice it, the instrument reminds me of the guy in the movies who shows up at lovers' tables in restaurants. For me, the jazz violin is too high-pitched, squeaky and relentlessly annoying. Of course, my personal taste takes nothing away from the swing-era violin masters. To be sure, they are technically marvelous. But I find the violin like trying to enjoy something that belongs someplace else. Like watching guys ...

"A sparkling command of the instrument." —Chick Corea “An uncompromising clarity of rhythm, timing and sound that is pure light." —Jan Vogler, Dir., Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival Few artists could record two albums over the course of one week in different musical genres, with disparate personnel, and at separate studios. Yet New York City-based pianist Eldar Djangirov has done just that, and proven himself musically ambidextrous as evidenced by two remarkable, self-produced recordings for his debut on the maverick, multi-Grammy ...

Ballaké Sissoko to Release 'At Peace' on Six Degrees Records

Source: Press Junkie PR

In 2009, in the depths of the Malian night, kora player Ballaké Sissoko and cellist Vincent Segal recorded the stripped down dialogues that became the album Chamber Music. The record collected rave reviews and became an instant classic. It was rewarded with a “Victoire de la Musique” (a French Grammy award) and resulted in 200 concerts around the world. This kind of popular and critical success would have made the idea of Chamber Music Volume 2 very appealing - but ...
