Justin Page

American jazz drummer Justin Page, born in New York City, started playing at the tender age of 8. In 1978, at age 11, he was the youngest musician ever to perform in the Newport Jazz Festival.

Over the years, he played with Kevin Hays, Bill Charlap, Justin Robinson, Curtis Stigers, Rufus Reid, Jon Gordon, Sean Smith, Valery Ponomarev, Sal Salvador, pop-sensation John Mayer, and many others.

He graduated from the High School for the Performing Arts in New York City, and then attended Manhattan School of Music for Composition.

Justin studied with Eddie Locke, ("Papa") Jo Jones, Billy Mintz, Justin DiCioccio, N.Y. Philharmonic Tympanist Roland Kohloff (ret.) and John Riley. He studied composition with late Ludmila Ulehla and studied songwriting privately with Leonard Bernstein briefly until his death in 1990.

Justin was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar in 1985, the first jazz musician or drummer ever to be so named.
