Read "Les Amoureuses" reviewed by John Eyles

Having first made contact in 2008, after discovering each other's music, English-speaking Charlie Beresford and French-speaking Christian Vasseur, both guitarists, communicated with one another for several years, each keeping in touch with what the other was working on. During this period, Beresford was a member of the quartet Fourth Page and was also developing his links with cellist Sonia Hammond. Beresford Hammond Hume: The Lightning Bell

Read "The Lightning Bell" reviewed by John Eyles

Those familiar with Beresford's previous work will find that this album builds on it and explores new territory. The label's inaugural release, The Science of Snow, featured the duo Beresford Hammond which paired Beresford's acoustic guitar and piano with the classically-trained cellist Sonia Hammond, the two improvising in an engagingly relaxed manner. For this follow-up album, that duo ...

'This is a beguiling album, rich in emotional inflexions. Its mimetic melancholy is offset both by the immediacy of the performance and its poetry. It is really quite beautiful.' Tim Owen Dalston Sound

“a prime example of pure creativity.” The Musician (album was stand out for the issue)

“It's the science of snow, its rarely recurring forms, its logic-defying crystal building and eventual sublimation that this music attempts to convey. This stuff comes from a border country and a border state.” Brian Morton The Wire
