Clarence H Ward III

Clarence H. Ward III is an American saxophonist and Trumpeter. Clarence began studying flute than saxophone at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School the age of 15 under the guidance of one of Baltimore's greatest educators and trombonist Charles Funn. Under Charles Funn tutelage Clarence Ward III won best soloist awards at 3 jazz festivals throughout his time in high school as well as received a music scholarship to University of Maryland Eastern Shore. After a couple years of college Clarence decided to join the ARMY as a full time saxophonist. Since leaving the army in 2001 Clarence has been a freelance Reedman and Trumpeter. In 2003 and 2004 Clarence entered and won a spot on the HBCU All Star big band representing UMES at the Prestigious IAJE FESTIVAL in Canada and New York. During that time he had a chance to play with jazz greats Jimmy Cobb, Frank Foster, Bobby Watson to name a few. Since than Clarence has toured, recorded with, and/or shared the stage with many great artist in many different genres. List below
