Nas Amir
Nas Amir studied @ Harlem’s well known Jazz Mobile School & one of Brooklyn’s finest, The Brooklyn Muse. Nas Amir studied bass and music theory at both institutions and with Spike Lee’s father Bill Lee at The Brooklyn Muse.
He has worked with musicians and producers such as Brian Jackson, keyboardest with Gil Scott Heron, Fareed Haqq, guitarist extraodinaire who has played for Jeffrey Osborne and Chaka Khan. Nas Amir has also worked with Arnett Leftenant, formally of the R&B/Funk group Cameo, and he’s worked with world renowned pianist Onaje Allen Gumbs.
Musical influences include John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stanley Clark, Jeff Lorber, Gerald Albright, James Brown, Jonathan Butler, Cameo, Mary J Blige & The Notorious BIG to name a few.
Nas Amir has been away from music for a while but now he’s back with an independent project, “Dare To Dream Again”. Nas has created this project to remind us of how music has made us feel in the past, present and future.
Ten songs such as Yards To Go and Yes or No from the “Dare To Dream Again” project were introduced through SoundClick.com/nasamir in September, 2012 with great success. Both songs charted number one on the Jazz and Smooth Jazz charts.
Nas defines his music as “Funky smooth grooves underneath a fusion of Jazz and R&B with melodic overtones, a feel good music”.
NuVision Music Productions and Executive Producer E Badu, defines Nas Amir’s music as “Retro Future Music: a refreshing blend of jazz, R&B, funk and a little taste of Hip Hop.
