Currently found frequenting the pits of Broadway shows, he was once a member of the orchestra of South Pacific, performed at Lincoln Center through fall of 2010.

He has performed and toured with acts such as Bernadette Peters, Josh Groban, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Barry Manilow, Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Mika (UK), Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme, Peter Cetera, Johnny Mathis, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Nancy Sinatra, “Our Sinatra”, “Forever Swing”, “Pippin”, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Gene Krupa Orchestra and others.

He has been seen visiting the pits of Spiderman, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Addams Family, Legally Blond, Movin' Out and Curtains.

He can be heard on TV playing those catchy lines behind commercials for Old Navy, GM Heritage Collection, Wrigley's Doublemint Gum, Sears, Orbitz and Bounty's “Cupcakes” ads.

He is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University where he studied under M. Dee Stewart and Scott Hartman. He attended the inaugural season of the Henry Mancini Institute where he performed excerpts from the Henri Tomasi Concerto for Trombone live on the radio with full orchestra after winning the concerto competition.

”Gang and Mayland demonstrated a closely knit musical intimacy reminiscent of other great voice and horn teams whose chemistry was palpable. Mayland took an impressive solo on “Please Don’t Break My Heart,” an original soulful ballad, conveying the vulnerability of falling in love with his beautiful tone and masterful articulation.” - Nora McCarthy, Jazz Inside

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
