Nate Mayland
Since January 2001 Nathan Mayland has lived as a professional musician in New York City. He is an experienced freelancer on both tenor and bass trombone, euphonium and tuba as well as an arranger/composer of music for his own groups, including The Astoria Trombones, and The Wishbone Project - a jazz quintet featuring the original music of Nate Mayland and singer/lyricist Kat Gang.
Currently found frequenting the pits of Broadway shows, he was once a member of the orchestra of South Pacific, performed at Lincoln Center through fall of 2010.
He has performed and toured with acts such as Bernadette Peters, Josh Groban, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Barry Manilow, Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Mika (UK), Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme, Peter Cetera, Johnny Mathis, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Nancy Sinatra, Our Sinatra, Forever Swing, Pippin, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Gene Krupa Orchestra and others.
He has been seen visiting the pits of Spiderman, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Addams Family, Legally Blond, Movin' Out and Curtains.
He can be heard on TV playing those catchy lines behind commercials for Old Navy, GM Heritage Collection, Wrigley's Doublemint Gum, Sears, Orbitz and Bounty's Cupcakes ads.
He is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University where he studied under M. Dee Stewart and Scott Hartman. He attended the inaugural season of the Henry Mancini Institute where he performed excerpts from the Henri Tomasi Concerto for Trombone live on the radio with full orchestra after winning the concerto competition.
