Nathan Hook

A native Texan, multi-instrumentalist and composer Nathan Hook started on a modest two-octave keyboard at age six. The mini keyboard was replaced by a Wurlitzer 88, and by age 10, he was playing alto saxophone. While still in high school, he was recognized by the Austin jazz community, most often when he played at the Elephant Room, Austin's renowned jazz venue.

In Austin, Nathan enjoyed the musical influences of Bruce Saunders, Jeff Hellmer, Paul White, Justin Vasquez, and Tony Campise.

After high school, Nathan attended William Paterson University in New Jersey, where he has studied with Vincent Herring, Harold Mabern, Bill Goodwin and Bill Mobley. Since moving to the NYC area in 2010, Nathan has played at several of the most prestigious NYC jazz venues such as Smalls, Smoke, and the Zinc Bar.
