Neisy Wilson

Neisy Wilson is a Cuban jazz singer, pianist and composer. She started to study music at age of 7, and during her teens she made performances like a pianist in a Latin American music international festivals that were take place in her born city: Santiago de Cuba. In 2000 she moves to Havana, Cuba, to study musical composition at the University of Arts.

She has obtained prizes like a singer and composer in several editions of the “Jojazz” Contest, and has annually been invited to the event “Women in Jazz”, that is celebrate every year in the prestigious Havana Jazz Club: “La Zorra y el Cuervo”.

She made also several performances at the Radio and TV national stations. During the years 2001 and 2002 she performed with “Lemanacuba” project, with musicians of “Irakere” band and students of the University of Arts and the National School of Arts, making tours by several cities of France. By this time, she also performed with a Latin jazz fusion band: “Mezcla”, directed by the North American musician Pablo Menendez, making international and national tours: Jazz Festival in Saint Marteen, International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba, Jazz Festival “Coco Fest” (Cayo Coco, Cuba) and International Jazz Festival in Barranquilla, Colombia, when she was share the scene with the worldwide acclaimed Brazilian singer Rosa Passos.

At the end of 2002 she performed in the tribute that the University of Arts offered to Sir George Martin, remarkable British musician, and producer of mythical band “The Beatles”, during his visit to Cuba. At the end of 2003 and until 2006 she collaborated with the percussionist Alejandro Mayor, creating the Latin jazz trio “Gala Mayor”, doing performances in jazz clubs in Havana, Cuba, and touring in Honduras.

At the same time, in 2004 she was selected, to perform the musical works finalists of SGAE (Spanish Society of Composers) Latin Jazz Contest 2004, in Havana, Cuba. She also was performing in other concerts celebrated at the International Jazz Festival (Jazz Plaza, 2004), sharing scene with the great Cuban pianist Chucho Valdes.

In June of 2005 she finished a Bachelor degree in Music Composition at the University of Arts with a maximum qualification. 

 During the years 2006 until 2009 she worked as a singer and pianist in Jordan, Egypt and United Arab Emirates. In the month of February of 2008, she has chosen one of the best 5 top singers in an online contest “Singers Universe Magazine”, since then, her music have been broadcasted for several radio networks online: “Radio Indy”, “The Songwriter's Network”, “Indie Life Radio” and “Uptown Jazz Network”.
