Norma Ensemble

The Norma Ensemble is a quartet which was established at the 2019 Ambria Jazz Festival, in Lombardy, Italy, during a residence offered by the Festival.

On that occasion, saxophonist Marcello Allulli, pianist Enrico Zanisi, bassist Jacopo Ferrazza and drummer Valerio Vantaggio composed and rehearsed the first songs together, and then presented them in concert. The members of the quartet are connected by a strong and long-lasting friendship, cemented by a shared musical vision, and are among the most active musicians on the Italian jazz scene and beyond.

The development of the band was greatly influenced by a subsequent tour in Zimbabwe and Zambia, in December 2019, for concerts and masterclasses. A U.S. tour was scheduled for the spring 2020, but had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The name of the band is an acronym which in Italian means "do not resist, listen".

"Revelation", their debut album, was published in February 2020 and their launch took place in Rome's premier jazz venue, La Casa Del Jazz.

I brani dell'album rivelano una forte spinta emozionale, inquadrata in un prospettivismo musicale concepito per un pubblico variegato ...
