Patrice Fisher

Latin jazz harpist & composer, Patrice Fisher, has been performing and recording her own compositions for the past 22 years. She is a graduate of Tulane University, as well as the Wolf Trap Academy for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and the Creative Music Studio Jazz School in New York. She has recorded 11 albums of original music, including her latest CD, “Music of the Three Americas.” She has traveled throughout the world, performing at festivals, like the Cancun Jazz Festival, the FestiJazz in La Paz, Bolivia, the Encuentro Jazz Festival in Guatemala and a concert with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Sergipe in Aracaju, Brazil. “

The musicians who will be playing with Ms. Fisher, include Betsy Braud -flute, Will Buckingham-bass, Hector Gallardo-percussion, Fran Comiskey-piano, Jose Roberto Moreira-guitar and Carlos Valladares, percussion.

“My favorite music is the music of Cuba and Brazil. I like the complex rhythms. The harmony fits well with what the harp is comfortable playing. Latin rhythms are very complicated to play. They are very syncopated, they go against the beat. But that's what makes you want to dance.

Gene Scaramuzzo of Gambit newspaper gave four umbrellas to Arpa's last performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, it's highest rating, which indicates a “must see” performance. Mr. Scaramuzzo says of Arpa “There are many sides to this local composer/harpist. It's not unusual to see her play a staid classical gig in the morning and a smoky music club at night. Strong rhythms form the undercurrent of her instrumental music with Arpa.”

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
