Patrik Boman

Patrik Boman bass player, composer, arranger and producer Born 10/10 1964

Education: Malmö Academy of Music (Malmö faculty of fine performing arts) 1984-1985 Classical music Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm 1987-1988 Jazz Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm 2007-2009 Degree of Master (two years) in music

Started playing jazz, and double bass, at 14 years old so I´ve been playing for 37 years now. Turned professional at 22 years old with the legendary swedish jazz pianist Lars Sjösten Quartet, so I´ve been playing professionally for 29 years. Lars Sjösten Quartet collaborated with, among others, artists like Benny Bailey and Bill Barron.

I produced and arranged (together with pianist Peter Nordahl) as well as playing the bass on the very successful albums ”When Did You Leave Heaven” and ”Back to Earth” with Lisa Ekdahl and Peter Nordahl Trio. Both albums sold more than 300 000 copies each and the music took us to Hollywood. Music from the albums where used in a motion picture, Town and Country, (in which we had a small part as well) with great actors like Warren Beatty, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Jenna Elfman, Andie McDowell and more.

I have recorded 75 albums as musician, 29 albums as producer and 17 albums as arranger of the music. I have 4 albums in my own name who won different awards like ”The golden Record” (best jazz album 2000) awarded by the jazz magazine Orkester Journalen (the oldest exciting jazz magazine in the world), and the ”Jazz Cat” from the Swedish national radio (group of the year 2000). I am participating as musician and producer on two albums awarded with a Swedish Grammy Award (best jazzalbum 1994 and best jazz album 1999)

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
