Juno nominated Canadian jazz bassist Paul Novotny has just released his second duo recording with pianist Oscar Peterson Protégé Robi Botos. Summertime in Leith, recorded by Novotny in concert from the Historic Leith Church on July 14th 2018.

Novotny has performed with luminaries Cedar Walton, Geoff Keezer, Junior Mance, Kenny Wheeler, Don Thompson, Don Friedman, Jo-Ann Brakeen, Scott Hamilton, Brian Browne, Joe Sealy, Holly Cole, Carol Welsman, Molly Johnson, Jackie Richardson and many others.

Novotny (with Joe Sealy) has performed in Canada, Scandinavia, USA and opened concerts for Charlie Haden/Brad Meldau, Herb Ellis/Red Mitchell and Michel Petrucciani. Novotny is an accomplished screen-media composer with credits for the CBC National News, CBC The Hour, with George Stroumboulopoulos, CBC News Now, as well as film and documentary credits.

Paul has an MA in composition and has written for jazz orchestra, orchestra, string quartet and small jazz ensemble. With expertise in multi-channel 5.1 surround-sound, Dolby Atmos, music and audio production, he is currently a PhD candidate in music production and technology at York University in Toronto.

Paul established his own imprint in 1994, Triplet Records, and is the President. Triplet is digitally distributed via "The Orchard."
