Phyllis Causey

Her jazzy vocal style crosses over from jazz to country, blues, Broadway show tunes, and even some Rock 'n' Roll. Phyllis has appealed to audiences in and around her home town of Detroit, in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Houston, and even Paris, France. She has been compared to the likes of Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson and Billie Holiday, but her style is clearly her own. Phyllis has had the privilege of working with many jazz greats all over the world who have taken her under their wings.

“My teachers have been legendary artists! I have been fortunate to have learned from the best: The great Barbara Morrison, James Leary, Billy Mitchell, Robert Sanders, Mike Owen, Dr. Teddy Harris, Jimmy Johnson, Prof. Hirishimo Cox, Rudy Robinson, Phyllis Battle, Dini, Dr. Harold McKinney, Dr. Tom Owens and so many more – too numerous to name, have touched my life with willingness to share their musical knowledge and talents with me."
