Racey Gilbert

Racey Gilbert is a NYC born drummer and photographer who resides in Westport, CT. Racey has played with memorable jazz musicians such as Mal Waldron, Gil Evans, Howard Johnson, Jeremy Steig, Herb Bushler, Eddie Gomez and Coleridge Perkins. His collaborative efforts over the years include producing and playing with the jazz sextet Eastern Standard Time in Baltimore and DC, Latimer St. Jazz in and around Philadelphia and now brings the Jazz-Apero concert and wine concept to the Nutmeg State. Jazz-Apero is a concert format conceived by Racey during his time playing in the Luberon Valley of Provence, France in the early 2000’s. Dedicated to the modern jazz of the bebop and post bob eras, Jazz Apero features artists such as Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver, Bennie Golson and Charles Mingus. Wine is an integral part of this format, and is covered by the ticket price. American audiences are now invited to enjoy great jazz and good wines in a relaxed setting. Each performance will showcase the Jazz-Apero Collective, a dynamic gathering of talented musicians from around the globe.
