Rafik Mankarios

For more than 25 years, Rafik Mankarios has been an active drummer playing in Montreal. His passion began in his early childhood and still today, music and rhythm captivate him.

Rafik has been exposed to countless musical experiences at home and around the world that have helped establish the foundations of his present day solid experience.

While avidly observing and listening to master inspirational drummers like Buddy Rich, Horacio Hernandez, Dave Weckl and many others, Rafik has benefited from the private teaching of well-known and respected Montreal drummers: Philippe Keyser and Bernard Primeau, who both enriched his musical learning in many ways.

After driving bands, and more particularly many Montreal's top Big Bands, in shows, concerts, tours and recordings for more that 20 years, an opportunity to work in Switzerland led Rafik to more extraordinary musical experiences. The time spent in Europe touring and playing has greatly inspired his taste and need for musical diversity.

Back home, Rafik is now involved in many projects, including leading his own ensemble: The Jazz Latin Djam. Whether it's playing musicals, corporate gigs, shows, touring or recording, Rafik implicates himself with the same professionalism every time. Being a very versatile drummer, he is constantly seeking new challenges.
