Ranjit Arapurakal is a breakout vocalist whose range and sensitivity have made him a hit among audiences from New York City to Mumbai, India. Born in the South Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and raised in Princeton, NJ, Ranjit found his calling as a vocalist at a young age, performing in Operas at The Westminster Choir College and The Opera Festival of New Jersey, as well as in various school and church choirs. As a youth, he studied with Sue Ellen Page, Joachim Parella, and Dr. Charles Sundquist. At Rutgers University, Ranjit studied Classical Vocal Performance with Frederic Renz, as well as Jazz Theory and History in the Jazz Studies Department of The Mason Gross School of the Arts.
Since embarking on his professional career in 2000, Ranjiit has performed in a variety of ensembles and settings all around the world, in such cities as London, Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Paris, Lauzerte, Prague, Mumbai, Berlin, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and New York City, where he currently resides.
Every Wednesday, Ranjit performs Jazz Standards at Ella Lounge in manhattan's Lower East Side, accompanied by the one and only Dredd Scott, Piano.
