He entered college as a music major and aspiring drummer, but soon found himself drawn to the saxophone. "I’d always loved the sound of it, just hearing it gave me chills," says Robert, "but once I actually held a saxophone and played it, I knew I’d found my voice."

He has played for the Academy awards, the Emmy awards, The BET awards, The Nick & Jessica Variety Show, Lou Rawls cavalcade of stars, The NAS awards and many others.

In addition to producing his own projects, Robert has been co-producer on numerous recordings. In 2004 he began taking on bigger projects for other artists, such as producing the highly successful CD “Es Cosa Latina” for salsa artist Leslie Paula, for which he also handled all the arranging. He is slated to produce Leslie’s new CD in early 2008. This year saw the release of the debut CD for salsa artist Miguel Gutierrez, “Oye mi Ritmo-Oye Mi Voz,” for which Robert also acted as producer & arranger. Betty Bryant: Lotta Livin'

Read "Lotta Livin'" reviewed by Jack Bowers

First, double-check to make sure there aren't any misprints. No, it's an honest-to-goodness fact that Betty Bryant--who sings, plays piano, wrote four of the nine numbers and arranged half a dozen on her fourteenth album--really was almost ninety-four years old when Lotta Livin' was recorded in 2023. Bryant's rough and edgy voice is remarkably strong and steady, while her piano playing simply defies any generational labels. As a vocalist, no note seems out of her reach, and ...
