Røgsignal means Smoke Signal in Danish. A wild and vivid way of communicating through something other than words and gestures.
In a clash of pulsating beats and experimental soundscapes, the Aarhus-based quartet has created its very own instrumental cosmos. The songs are equally inspired by modern indie rock and a homesickness towards the deserted roads of rural Denmark. The biggest, Danish music magazine, GAFFA, describes how “there is a longing melancholy to the overall input and expression. Something dreamy and unexplainable. Beautiful and soothing.”
The release of the bands debut album, “Pletter På Solen” (“Sun Spots”, 2016) resulted in great attention in the bands homecountry: Packed concerts at the largest, Danish jazz festivals and venues, raving reviews and steady rotation on Danish National Radio.
2017 saw Røgsignal touring all over Denmark, while also releasing two music videos to accompany the album. Simultaneously a lot of ideas and inspirations have been gathering into new music that will be the content of the 2018-shows, and of a follow up album in the autumn.
The first album-single, ‘1977’, was recently released. Produced by Anders Boll (Lowly, Efterklang etc.), it marks a serious expansion of the bands sound and an ambitious move towards a more produced, indie-universe.
