Ronny Reed Trumpeter, Vocalist, Band Director & Consummate Entertainer

As a R&B/Contemporary and straight-ahead jazz trumpeter and vocalist, Ronny Reed performs before Kansas City audiences with his band Millennium. In recent years, his band has opened for noted jazz pianist Bob James and his ensemble FourPlay and has backed nationally acclaimed artists Roy Ayers, Ronnie Laws, Debra Laws, Bobbi Humphrey and Kevin Mahogany.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ronny started performing professionally at age 6 and was introduced to the stages of the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York and the legendary Howard Theater in Chicago, Illinois by his uncles, Gilbert, Alvis, Perry and Charles Moorer of the 70’s gold recording group “The Esquires” (Get On Up, Get Up and Get Away and Girls in the City) and as a member of the Moorer Brothers horn section.

A student of jazz legend Freddie Hubbard, Ronny toured in the 80’s with the late, great Bobby “Rockin’ Robin” Dey and groups such as the original Coasters and the Manhattans. In the 90’s, Ronny headlined concert stages with jazz notables Jimmy Smith, Norman Brown, and Kirk Whalum.

Ronny always brings his “A game” to the stage and takes pride in being a “consummate” musician and entertainer”.
