Ron Thomas

Ron first learned piano from his father Buddy Thomas. He entered the Manhattan School of Music as a Piano Major in 1959, changed his major to Composition the second semester. Studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen at the U of Pennsylvania in 1964, Stephan Wolpe and Roland Hanna 1968-1970, earned a Masters in Composition from Long Island University in 1970. In 1965 Ron traveled to the U of Illinois and experienced a jazz epiphany. He recorded with Pat Martino and Eric Kloss in 1972. In 1995 he and producer Richard Burton began recording and releasing his music on Vectordisc Records. He has also released three projects on Art of Life Records
