Rowland gives lectures on flute technique with the composition students at
the Birmingham Conservatoire. He is an Assistant Lecturer of Flute at the
University of Kent.
He is professor of flute at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal
Northern College of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and
Rowland has been involved in various types of contemporary classical music
composer workshops with such contemporary classical ensembles as
Lontano, Icebreaker, notes inegales, The New Music Players, Birmingham
Contemporary Music Group, Ixion, Ensemble Expose and Uroboros.
They took place with such organisations and at such venues as BMIC, SPNM,
Dartington International Summer School, Kings College London, Reggello
International Festival Italy and Gaudeamus Amsterdam. Birmingham
Conservatoire, Sound and Music, Universities of Birmingham, Surrey, York,
Bristol, Durham, Bath Spa, Southampton and the Royal Scottish Academy of
Music, among others.
