Sam Norman

Sam Norman was born in Minehead South West England and has been a freelance musician since 2007. He began studying bass guitar at age 17, later adding Fretlass and finally string bass to his instrumental arsenal by his late teens.

Sam also studied at LA Music Academy studying Upright and Electric bass under Kevin Axt who garnered a total of 11 Grammy nominations. As well as Jerry Watts (Herbie Hancock Sheryl Crow), Joey Heredia (Scott Henderson Sergio Mendes), Doug Ross (Brett Garsed) and Rufus Philpot.

Sam has performed in a jazz trio with Brad Rabuchin (Ray Charles, Tom Jones) where they provide entertainment for Weddings, Corporate events, restaurants etc, around the city of Los Angeles. As well as this he’s playing in a Hawaiian band (Pumana) which performs at large festivals in and out of L.A and is well established within this community.

He has also performed and toured with artists such as Jana Kirschner (Universal records) where they performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (South Bank London) , Benji Kirkpatrick, West Sussex Jazz Orchestra and Jim Moray (English Folk awards winner).

Sam is currently based in Cornwall and performs with renowned pianist Simon Latarche. Recent performances include the Eden project, the Old Bakery and the Minack Theatre.
