Satish Robertson

Satish Robertson’s soulful trumpet soars in a variety of musical settings from jazz to gospel, hip-hop, R&B, funk, right down to the blues. He’s also a composer whose writing often exhibits a striking cinematic quality.

His resume includes live performances and/or recordings with jazz luminaries such as James Carter, Spirit of Life Ensemble, Kahlil Kwame Bell, and Deborah Davis; hip-hop artists such as Ace Clark and Skyzoo; R&B icon Meli’sa Morgan, and many more, in addition to leading various hard hitting jazz groups of his own.

The Jersey City native began his musical studies on piano as a child, but gravitated towards trumpet after falling under the spell of Miles Davis. Satish was privileged to study under many of the finest trumpeters on the scene including Rob Henke, Jeremy Pelt, Dr. Eddie Henderson, and the late Ted Curson, helping him develop a bold and unique voice on his instrument.

In 2020 Satish released 80’s JOINT, an astonishing mashup of virtuosic jazz trumpet and synth heavy 80’s pop, rock, funk, and new wave elements. Satish took his creativity to new heights with the album, composing, arranging, and producing the entire record himself as well as performing nearly all of the parts.
