Scott Laningham

Scott began working professionally during high school in the late 1970's, performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1978, and has been a popular drummer in the Austin, Texas music scene for 35 years. Today Scott is a core member of souljazz quintet Church on Monday, led by saxophonist Elias Haslanger every Monday night for four years running at the Continental Gallery in Austin, Texas. (Most recent group CD "Elias Haslanger: Live at The Gallery" received 4.5 stars in Downbeat Magazine. Scott is a regular with trumpeter Ephraim Owens, rock singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo, and The Trio SMC with guitarist Mitch Watkins and bassist Chris Maresh. Other performance and/or recording credits include work with Eric Johnson, Van Wilks, Christopher Cross, Kat Edmonson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hailey Tuck, Kirk Whalum, Red Young, Peggy Stern, Beto y los Fairlanes, Mose Allison, Tony Campise, Steve Allen, Mark Hallman, Suzi Stern, Carmen Bradford, Kellye Gray, Paul Glasse, the Nelson Riddle and Creative Opportunity Orchestras, and many others.
