Album Description

Songs For Tracy is a collection of compositions ranging from jazz to latin to pop to the fusion of jazz and classical idioms. It was created during the 2020 pandemic and the lyrics came about from weeks of walking my dog and jotting down ideas about the emotions and thoughts that I feel as a member of the human species. It was quite an introspective time and I hope I've conveyed some of the hopes and fears that I encountered during this time. I tried something new for me in this collection: the creation of two pieces (Dreaminiscence and Simply Exist) where I wrote a poem in the former and an essay in the latter, then used tone rows for the melodic content but created stream-of-consciousness harmony to follow those melodies. My hope was to use what is considered a "dissonant" form of tone rows but to make a lush bed of harmony where the melody rides over it. I hope you enjoy this new collection. -Frank Macchia, April, 2021

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
