Stephen Teipe Stephen Teipe

Drummer/ songwriter located in Long Beach area of Southern California; started playing drums at 8 years old; formed first band in the sixth grade; played first paying gigs in junior high school; played in bands throughout high school and started formal drum lessons during same time period with Kent Hannibal at Chapman College; studied classical music at Cal State Fullerton for short time and began lessons with Tom Brechtlein; attended Berklee School of Music on Steve Smith Jazz Masters partial scholarship and took lessons with John Ramsey; completed commercial music and arranging program at Fullerton College while playing in first and second jazz combos and studying percussion under Allen Carter; performed with Lanny Morgan for final recital with jazz combos; performed live with Phil Upchurch and Michael Paulo; played with cover bands On Root, Dominos and Corlis Graham and the Night Train; studied songwriting with Paul Edwards; currently forming own trio with guitarist and brother Peter Teipe and bassist Jeff Brookmeyer.
