Steve Fentriss

At 18 years of age, Steve Fentriss has already become one of Ann Arbor, Michigan's most prominent jazz drummers, logging stage time with James Dapogny, Paul Keller, Ramona Collins, Sunny Wilkinson, Tad Weed, Louis Smith, The Ron Brooks Trio, and many others. He was recently named a Clifford Brown/Stan Getz All-Star by the International Association of Jazz Educators and the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, an annual award only given to five high school seniors out of an international field of thousands.

With his debut CD, Early Last Morning, Steve shows that he is not only a fine drummer, but also a great composer and bandleader.

Early Last Morning contains eight original Steve Fentriss compositions performed by Steve and local jazz favorites: pianist Mark Kieswetter, trumpeter Paul Finkbeiner, trombonist Chris Smith, saxophonist Vincent York and bassist Paul Keller.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
