Stringybark Jazz Stringybark Jazz

Stringybark Jazz is a versatile jazz band from Lane Cove – in the northern suburbs of Sydney. The band plays a diverse range of jazz from Swing, to Blues, Latin Jazz and Ballads. Stringybark Jazz also plays in smaller formats such as a jazz combo. You can find the band playing at community events, festivals, citizenship ceremonies and private functions. Dave Braybrook, the Music Director of the band, develops multi-layer skills among the members of Stringybark Jazz. Thus, the musicians represent a blend of skills; those typically associated with performance of fixed chart arrangements – and the abilities to improvise as required for the occasion. The players are challenged to be comfortable performing solos and to be able to go beyond the written notes. Undoubtedly, an invaluable addition to Stringybark Jazz is the vocalist, Belinda Humphries. Belinda is an accomplished jazz singer who takes on a diverse range of styles, with a voice of incredible nuance and expressive capabilities. The group gets together in Lane Cove for their rehearsals, and is always on the lookout for enthusiastic players who wish to advance their jazz skills. The current members are: Dave Braybrook Music Director; Belinda Humphries Vocals; Carrie Foster Alto Saxophone; George Kaplun Drums; Graham Holland Trombone; Jackie Brighton Alto Saxophone; Jeff Hook Tenor Saxophone; John Coluccio Guitar; Lachlan Johnston Tenor Saxophone; Patrick Lorrimer Bass; Paul Young Piano; Phil Arnold Trombone; Simon Laidler Alto / Baritone Saxophone; Stephen Elias Trumpet; Steve Traurig Drums; Thomas Karolewski Tenor Saxophone; Tim Brighton Baritone Saxophone.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
