Sukyung Kim Sukyung Kim

Sukyung Kim is a Brooklyn-based jazz pianist and composer. She was born in Korea and moved to California when she was 15. She began studying piano at age of 4. She took classical piano lessons and regularly played at local churches and played with singers. She continued to study classical piano and composition when she moved to New York and majored in Classical Performance at SUNY Binghamton. After she realized that her true passion is improvising and composing, she decided to move to New York City. In 2017, she began studying Master’s program at NYU and Kevin Hays, Alan Broadbent, Drew Gress, Alex Sipiagin and Ari Hoenig have been her major mentors. Her debut EP album, 'Lilac Hill', will be released in April 2020. She has performed at various venues in New York City including Rockwood Music Hall, Williamsburg Music Center and Tomi Jazz, with her group, “Sue Kim Group”.
