Tara Linda

”Tara Linda & The Rumor Mill delivers everything from jazzy blues and sassy swings to smoky ballads and boleros with a sultry voice and playful heart” - San Francisco Chronicle.

Tara Linda sings original vocal jazz. Sultry and playful, Tara’s vocal style hints of 1930’s torch and swing traditions—with added catchy hooks, humor, and contemporary themes. Torch and Sass showcases Tara Linda’s dynamic voice and “mesmerizing” delivery (Oakland Tribune) in this eclectic and satisfying recording.

American Roots ~ Vocal Jazz: “As a composer and vocalist, I’ve always loved early jazz, especially the period just before the big band sound took root.” To inspire her songwriting, Tara’s turntable spun constantly with Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Mildred Bailey, and Augustin Lara. “I was inspired by the sound of celebration in this era of jazz, by the story- telling lyrics, the tongue-in-cheek humor, and the prominent melodies of the 30’s and 40’s.” With these vintage jazz sensibilities in mind, Tara set out to write her first stomp (”Recession Stomp”), swing (”Rumor Mill Swing”), and jazz ballads for this, her fourth CD, Torch and Sass.
