Tawanna Shaunte

Tawanna Shaunte' is a phenomenal singer-songwriter who hails from central Mississippi. Her musical inspiration comes from her deep rural Mississippi roots where her huge family of aunts, uncles, and cousins would belt out traditional gospel hymns and Delta blues at a moment’s notice and before long everyone would be singing. Her late father, Tommy J. Harper, was a guitar player and her mother Grace, a gospel singer and pianist. Her mother's strong determination and influence helped to implant the soulfulness and gospel undertones in Tawanna's voice.

Tawanna Shaunte has been singing since she was nine and is still captivating audiences today with her unique vocal style and stage presence. Tawanna Shaunte's masterful songwriting skills, vocals ranges, and musical arrangements are truly gifts by divine intervention. For three years, she performed with the band "Eclectik Soul" as the lead vocalist. They toured and sold their cd’s all over the US and abroad. While performing with Eclectik Soul, she produced and released two albums, "Eclectik Soul: Eclectik Soul" and "Rising".

Tawanna Shaunte' is passionate about singing and spreading knowledge through the arts to the children in her community. She is actively involved in the ‘Ask for More Arts’ initiative geared towards increasing the arts in public schools. Tawanna Shaunte is now diligently working on her solo album, "Shades of Color."
