Album Description

Liner notes by Debbie Burke, jazz blogger Crisp percussion and smooth honey on the sax make “Divine You” a place to come home to. Breathe easy; piano brings you deeper into the melody. There’s perfection and satisfaction in subtle chord modulations. A calm roll and sibilant crash wind it up just right. “Groove Skipper” jumps in with both feet. Oceanic waves give way to funky, innovative runs and rhythmic micro-jolts turn up the energy factor. Nothing’s held back on an amazing bass solo that uses every inch of the fingerboard, in turn setting off a multi-layered, tapestry-colored drum solo. The catchy opening phrase of “Cree’s River” hands the sax free rein which it takes with no inhibitions. A brilliant game of tag among this skilled ensemble enhances the fun, bright melody. And catch the bass as it gets down low into all the dark corners of “We’ll Rebuild It.” Tension builds with choppy chords interspersed with lyrical moments. There’s intellect in this track that’s hard to explain. Perhaps most enjoyable is the optimism of a shimmer of notes high on the keyboard at the end. Original, stunning and creative, THE HEART INTACT takes you on a thoughtful, melodic journey through human emotion and the pleasure of being. © Debbie Burke 2018 - Author of GLISSANDO: A Story of Love, Lust and Jazz
