Album Description
I had been wondering about this project until I found the perfect time to do it, when I felt ready to meet the challenge of recording alone, and I had the time and the means to do it. The first step was to choose the cave – we found a place with the ideal acoustic characteristics where I could enter by myself and stay inside for long periods of time. To reach the chosen hall I had to advance for 30 minutes from the entrance of the cave, while a marvelous feeling of freedom and protection was invading me, getting bigger the more I went deeper into the cave. Once I arrived to the chosen spot: silence, broken by water drops falling at a steady rate. I was immersed in a kind of trance, I took my instrument, I blew, and everything enveloped me. There, the sound remains and time stops, everything intimately related to the slow geological processes that take place there. I had to find a way of playing that might be respectful towards such a special environment, and that is why I went so many times in absolute solitude until I found that way of playing. It was a whole unlearning process that has made me freer and more conscious. The music included in the record has been totally improvised, and to be honest, there was no alternative, since no piece composed outside could work in a place with so particular acoustic and time features.
