The Moody Blues

“The Moody Blues are still the Sistine Chapel of popular music.” – Rolling Stone

In an endless sea of rock and pop formats, The Moody Blues have distinguished themselves through four decades as that shimmering jewel vindicating rock music as a substantial artistic contribution to Western culture. Since the 60’s, as a part of the historic original British invasion of Supergroups, The Moody Blues have lit up the hearts and minds of millions of rock fans with inspiring anthems like “Nights in White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon” and “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” which express universal themes of love, compassion and peace. The band’s unique style of music consistently finds airplay on radio stations globally and continues to illuminate concert arenas around the world. From being immortalized on The Simpsons to having their music featured in movies, television and in national advertisement campaigns such as VISA, The Moody Blues are embedded in not only music history but in pop culture.

The band and Universal Music Enterprises (Ume) recently released The Moody Blues’ new definitive, career-spanning collection, TIMELESS FLIGHT, in both 17-disc and four-CD configurations. The 17-disc set is housed in an LP-sized hardbound slipcase and includes 11 CDs of digitally re-mastered album tracks, previously unreleased mixes and outtakes, and complete concert recordings. It also includes three DVDs of rare television performances, promotional videos and a previously unreleased concert film; in addition to three DVD-Audio discs of long out-of-print 5.1 album mixes, a 120-page hardback collector’s book, faithful reproductions of Moody Blues memorabilia, and more. The four-CD TIMELESS FLIGHT boxed anthology culls audio highlights from the larger collection, including standout album tracks, singles and B-sides, previously unreleased mixes, and concert and radio performances.

Last year, the group celebrated the 45th Anniversary of their monumental 1967 album, “Days of Future Passed,” which features “Nights in White Satin,” one of the first four minute songs played on the radio, becoming one of the biggest selling singles in history, and hitting #1 three separate times on Billboard. In summer of 2012, “Nights” was the lead track in the movie and on the soundtrack of the Johnny Depp film, “Dark Shadows.” Universal Music Enterprises also released a new Moody Blues greatest hits collection in two editions titled ICON and ICON 2 — single disc and double disc formats.

Since they first hit the rock scene The Moody Blues have continued to produce music that bridges the gap between rock, classical and pop-rock genres without ever wavering in their integrity and commitment. Featuring the altruistic inflections of guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge, The Moody Blues’ sound has held its ground with exquisite harmonies over and over again, in a genre of music that is ever-changing. Since their formation in England, The Moody Blues have created music time and time again that offers rock music a depth that is unprecedented and inspiring.

The Moody Blues Days of Future Passed LiveEagle Vision 2018 For an album that was, according to surviving members of the Moody Blues (guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge), recorded in a mere seven days, Days of Future Passed (Deram, 1967) remains one of the early masterpieces of progressive rock, in addition to becoming a relatively constant (and big) seller. There may, however, be a couple of myths behind ...
