The New Acoustic Collective started as a trio comprised of fiddle, guitar & double bass featuring David Boyden and Alonso Sanchez led by guitarist Jason Keiser. The collective performed at local Bay Area jazz club Cafe Pink House in November of 2018, using a unique blend of bluegrass & jazz to forge new territory in the New Acoustic Music scene. At the time, the collective drew inspiration from David Grisman, John Carlini, Tony & Wyatt Rice (Keiser's guitar instructor) who currently teaches at East Tennessee State University.
The New Acoustic Collective brings together a variety of strings, brass, and percussion collaboratively led by Jason Keiser, Alonso Sanchez and Daniel Williams. The collective features some of the current top jazz, bluegrass, and classical musicians in the Bay Area. Members include Jason Keiser (guitar, mandolin, tres cubano), David Boyden (fiddle), Alonso Sanchez (pizz. double bass), Rodrigo Ruiz (arco/pizz. double bass), Nathaniel Grohmann (cello), Daniel Williams (drums/percussion), & Jacob Jackman (trumpet/flügelhorn).
This special ensemble works to bring all styles of music to bear including blending bluegrass, jazz, flamenco, classical, tango, traditional music idioms, and latin jazz.
The New Acoustic Collective released their new single of the David Grisman dawg music classic E.M.D. on all platforms, Wednesday December 16th, 2020 and their recent debut EP Buckwild on Sunday December 27th, 2020 on all platforms.
