The SEA Trio

The Sea Trio are a 3-piece electronic/ clarinet band from Philadelphia, PA. The band formed onstage in Fall 2006 and has since played regularly in Philly and New York, often with guest horn players from the Sun Ra Arkestra. They have opened twice for Black Moth Super Rainbow, and played at the 2008 Kimmel Center for Performing Arts Summer Solstice Festival on the late night stage.

Ephraim Asili (electronic beats), Andy Schwartz (keys) formed the band with a shared taste for early-70s electric Miles Davis albums & meditative jazz(Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane etc.) The music now combines a sound with elements of ambient electronic, and free jazz with an emphasis on the music being raw and live, with every show being almost completely improvised. In one set the music can go from minimalist electronic beats to intense washes of rhythm and sound. The SEA Trio now also includes Jennie Portney on effects processed clarinet!!

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
