Thomas Milovac

Thomas Milovac is a bassist, composer, arranger, and improvisor based out of Orlando, Florida.

Thomas is becoming recognized as a talented, young bassist regionally with deep roots in the jazz tradition as well as a deep passion for musical and sonic exploration. He has lead, and been a part of, many ensembles, many of which feature rising, young talent in the jazz community. Thomas has also become a working bassist throughout the state of Florida and beyond, working in musical idioms from Bebop, to Swing, to the Avant Garde.

Thomas has appeared at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival performing with local ensembles. He was also selected to perform in the 2015 All State Jazz Band as a junior in high school as well as being picked to perform in the University of Central Florida's All- Star High School Jazztet. He has also led various ensembles ranging from a nine-piece "small big band" to a guitar and bass duo which have performed his own arrangements and compositions and have received awards and statewide recognition for their blending of jazz stylings, creative arrangements, and talented playing by the featured musicians. Though a lover of jazz music, Thomas has also performed as part of the bass section with the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. His talents were also recognized by legendary drummer Les DeMerle who offered Thomas a feature at the 2016 Amelia Island Jazz Festival and granted him a scholarship to continue his studies as a bassist and student of music. As well as being recognized by prestigious music institutions such as Manhattan School of Music, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, and the University of North Florida where he was granted acceptance.

As a "Young Lion", Thomas has performed alongside legendary trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, drummer Les DeMerle, New York improvisor Steve Swell, and saxophonist Jamison Williams.

As a passionate student of music, Thomas has been able to pass on his knowledge to younger musicians by teaching younger musicians in school music programs. He has also provided private instruction in both bass and musical theory.

The legend of King Arthur and Camelot is depicted musically on Knights of the Round Table, the sixth album by the Florida-based eleven-member ensemble, Madre Vaca, whose themes are composed by drummer Benjamin Shorstein.
