Tom Cooney

Tom Cooney is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who has been performing and teaching since his teenage years. Tom plays genres on the jazz fringes, including jazz blues. He also plays and sings American Songbook standards. Tom's original music is best described as Contemporary Folk with Blues, Jazz, and Gospel influences. A Connecticut native, Tom lives in greater Bethlehem, PA.

Tom began performing at age 15. He has performed performed as a solo and small combo artist. He has also taught beginner and intermediate guitar, bass, music theory, and songwriting for over thirty years.

A student and lover of music, Tom minored in Applied Music while in college where he studied jazz guitar with the awesome Norman Johnson. He was also lucky enough to be influenced by musician, teacher and luthier Froc Filipetti.

Tom performs at small venues, songwriter showcases, open mics, praise and worship, and for social justice and environmental causes. He also sits in with other musicians as guitarist and vocalist.
