Live At The Outpost Performance Space June 2017
When artists release a live album, there is a certain element of risk attached. Will
the performance meet or exceed expectations? Will it sound right? Can the vibe of
the performance be captured? In the case of Tracey Whitney’s “Live at the Outpost
Performance Space,” (a New Mexico Music Awards nominee for Best Vocal
Performance) the answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes! The

trademark of a great live album is the artist’s ability to make the audience, whether
in person or listening, feel as if they are part of the album. Whitney’s exchange with
the audience and overall performance does just that. On the smoky “Baby, Baby All
The Time,” it is easy to imagine being in the front row, taking every nuance in. From
Whitney’s interplay with the band and audience, to giving each member of the band
a chance to showcase their chops, there is a shared musical experience that makes
every second of this song matter.

Love… A Fable In 9 Acts ★★★:
Like Millie Jackson’s Caught Up and Michael Franti’s Stay Human, ex-Raelette Tracey
Whitney’s first solo CD, Love… A Fable In 9 Acts launches with the adventure of a
concept album. She is in a long line of vocalists who reinterpret soul music in the
classic style, while others in her genre can sound out of place. Included is the Barry
White classic I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby, which elevates the
collection. The disc is a revolutionary patchwork of coherent Influences (gospel
flavored Amazing… A Song for Ron and the jazzy Ordinary Fool). We should point out
that included in the CD is a video for I'm Gonna Love You, in which she used clips
from North American film noirs from the 30’s & 40’s (including the celebrated Sepia
Cinderella).
Jazz Syndicate Radio “Soul Sessions with Brian Hobson”, London UK:
“The CD, Love...A Fable In 9 Acts has been put on my playlist ... playing: I'm Gonna
Love You Just A Little More Baby. Wicked Version... Love it.”
Soul Brother Records - London, England: Recommended New Soul
TRACEY WHITNEY LOVE...A FABLE IN 9 ACTS
Powerful voiced Tracey was formerly one of Ray Charles Raelette's. She makes a
good solid soul album, which includes three outstanding tracks; the upper mid
tempo foot tapper “Welcome To My Life”, the dancer “I Believe” and the 2-step
ballad “A Woman In Love”. Also of note are the mid tempo “Amazing”, the ballads
“How Can You Stop Loving Someone” and “Ordinary Fool” and the cover of “I’m
Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby”... Nice album.
Radio Jazz Plus Montréal, Québec

Tracey Whitney “Love A Fable In 9 Acts” - Babydoll Entertainment. A good debut LP
for ex Raelette, Tracey Whitney … pretty solid throughout. The killer to these ears is
the very Anita Baker sounding A Woman In Love written by Robert Brookins. Good
backing vocals and overall feel on this one and the other track Welcome To My
Life, excellent mid tempo winner well worth checking out.
