Album Description

Motvind Records releases compositions by violinist Hans Kjorstad, in a quartet featuring exceptional musicians Frode Haltli, Håkon Thelin and Per Oddvar Johansen. The title "Vendingo utta'om råket" (english: «Turns out of the track») refers to the composers tendency to walking on and out of tracks, and it's also an anology to the episode-like or cinematic experience of the record as a whole. Kjorstad explains: «The album broadly consists of melodies that I have whistled or hummed while walking in the forest, along streets or across fields and other open landscapes. I have then arranged the melodies for the quartet and tried to put it into a grand form» The album is released digitally and on vinyl, where Kjorstad has hand printed 100 vinyl sleeves, using the ancient technique of woodcuts.
