Noisemaking and traveling have been the two constants pinging on my career path so far. Being born into a family of musicians and surrounded by interesting music and noises led me to a life of creating and shaping sounds of my own. That my mother also shared her cache of recording gear and encouraged me to explore, is the reason that my path is less traditional than a strictly performance oriented one. I practiced piano; I practiced guitar. I enjoyed most, however, taking seven reel to reel tape recorders and hand syncing sound material I had recorded, shaping the melange of sources as I went, improvising clusters of noise. Fast forward to now… Over time, I have had experience designing performance and recording systems for myself and others. And created musical embellishment and color for musicians’ and producers’ projects. I have composed music and designed sound for multimedia projects for the stage and for the small and large screen. I have also taught students who have gone on to award winning and storied careers of their own. At the core of it all, was, and is this guiding mantra... Find your way! Seek the most creative and individualistic path forward... take the time to reflect again and again! You’re not done until you’re satisfied. Do it however many times you need to and use whatever it takes. Prove that this life is worth living.
