Voodoo Fuel

Voodoo fuel is based in Highlands County, FL, by way of Louisville, KY and Albuquerque, NM and everywhere in between. The McDaniel Brothers, K.P. and Tony, started their music journey at a young age. Their father, Preston was a Big Band musician and played most notably with Billy Vaughn’s Orchestra and Jimmy Lunsford. The brothers began touring in their teens with various bands, putting down the miles and paying their dues. Eventually they moved back to their hometown of Louisville with the commitment to write, play and perform original music. The brothers and other talented musicians formed the bands Splatch and Fatt Labb which stayed true to the brothers’ visions for more than 20 years.

Splatch and Fatt Labb recorded several albums, including the well-reviewed “Splatch,” “Instrumental People’s Music” and “Fatt Labb Live,” respectively. The McDaniel Brothers and the bands shared the stage with an impressive list of performers including David Sanborn, Spyro Gyra, Maynard Fergusson’s Big Band, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Dr. Lonnie Liston Smith, Joe Sample, The Mandolin Jazz Project, Galactic, Les McCann, Lou Donaldson, Steve Ali, Pieces of a Dream and Kim Waters among others. The brothers entered into a new project with Yani Vozos of Appalatin called “Cinco Sol.” The McDaniel’s made the tough decision to move to Florida help take care of their aging mother. The brothers are giving “Cinco Sol” a second life in Florida. They formed the band Voodoo Fuel along with the talented guitarist, Tony Suazo. Suazo has traveled the world playing in front of massive crowds and highly placed dignitaries as part of the United States Navy Fleet bands. Suazo retired from the Navy after 23 years of service. He brings another dimension of funk to Voodoo Fuel’s overall sound. He lives in Lake Placid with his wife Cora.
