Vytautas Straižys

young talented jazz pianist from Lithuania. Straizys was born in 1988 in Vilnius, capital city of Lithuania.At age of seven he started learning at school of art, where classical music was his first priority. During 12 years he became prizemen of several international young pianist competitions, also he had concerts and recitals at well-known halls in Europe and many concerts in Lithuania with Lithuanian national chamber orchestra. Despite getting down to classical music, Straizys also spared a lot of time with jazz music, that he had discovered already at the age of nine. The recordings of Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Miles Davis and other famous jazz personalities were his first influences. Later this acquaintanceship became serious pursuit and after graduating classical piano at National art school of M. K.Ciurlionis Straizys made up his mind. The priority should’ve been given to jazz music. So in autumn 2007 Straizys started his jazz studies at Lithuanian Academy of Music, and after several weeks he already became successful �" he won first place in the most significant international competition arranged in Lithuania �" „Jazz Improvisation“.
