Walter is currently carrying on the tradition of Herbie Mann,Hubert Laws,Yusef Lateef and Rhasaan. He is one of the top flutist in the country with 9 cds to his credit .Also ,Walter Bell is a pure Flutist and dosent "double on saxes",only various flutes and plays the entire family from bass to piccolo. He is a jazz and latin virtuoso and works the hell out of ballads etc. Walter is the founder and co owner of his own small label, Reika Records,named after his daughter,Reika Tiana...and that is also one of his earliest compositions. He travels nationally and has over 30 players that he chooses from to fill his group, the Latin Jazz Unit. Festivals and college&club dates are his prefered venue,although he works private receptions and political innaugaurations too!A phila. pa. native, he roe to national prominence after working out of Richmond Va for many years. Now residing in Philly,Walter gigs constantly,host a bi monthly radio show ,wpfw-pacifica89.3 in wash.DC, does a sunday jazz brunch each sunday at Hibachi on Penns landing in Philly and still has time to produce and score TV themes for New Millenium studios with actor Tim Reid in VA. He is a self taught flutist and a historian of the art form we call jazz as well.All of his cds have been reviewed favorably and internationally... just run his name thru your search engines!He is best enjoyed live. Jazz Times has called Walter the "freshes voice on the instrument and the baddest cat on flute in years"!

Jazz Flutist, Walter Bell, and the L. J. U. will perform a concert of warm and seductive Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz and straight-ahead jazz and selections from Mr. Bell's newly-released 10th CD, The Walter Bell Companion, Vol. 2 and other CDs on Saturday, September 9, 2006.
