Wayne Eagles
A musician for more than 30 years and a professional guitar instructor for over 20 years, Wayne Eagles performs and records both as leader and sideman in a variety of musical styles and ensembles. He has music-related BA, BA Hons, and MA degrees and is an Endorsing Artist for numerous musical instrument companies. Wayne has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including Adam Nussbaum, Billy Kilson, Rob Frayne, Brian Browne, Mike Milligan, The Platters, Peter Brown, Ian Froman and The Bitches Brew Tribute Band.
Although currently instructing a range of improvisational styles, Wayne was the first person to teach rock guitar in a Canadian University. He has been a Guitar Performance Instructor at Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Culture (SSAC: Music) since September 1992 and Director of their Fusion Ensemble since September 2007. Wayne also maintains a private music-teaching studio and does freelance session work. He remains active as an independent concert promoter and was Concert Manager for the Carleton University Committee on Cultural Activities (UCCA) from June 1993 until April 2002. Among the events Wayne has promoted are performances and/or clinics with The Dave Holland Quintet, The Mike Stern Band, and The Dave Weckl Band.
Wayne's work has been funded through grants from the national arts councils, numerous radio stations, as well as through provincial and regional funding bodies. Wayne's performance history includes appearances at various Canadian Jazz and Blues Festivals, University music showcases, numerous television appearances, and extensive club work. Wayne's CD releases include trio \ DEF (Drouin/Eagles/Froman), REGALS - The Double- Duo Sessions, Milligan-Eagles Project (featuring Billy Kilson), the solo CD How's Now?, plus numerous sideman recordings.
