Wenda Zonnefeld

Wenda Zonnefeld has a diversified musical background. Growing up in a musical family (everyone played at least one instrument and sang), Wenda was encouraged to pursue various musical interests. She performed in church and school, sang in musicals and wrote songs for her teachers to play. She began playing guitar and singing professionally at the age of 10. As a young adult Wenda became certified for and later created a business for repairing musical instruments called The Music Doctor. During this time Wenda was performing in various musical groups (both classical and jazz) playing woodwinds. Her instrument repair biz had clientele from around the globe including Grammy winners; Phil Woods, Pete Christlieb, Teddy Edwards, Bobby Shew, Fletch Wiley as well as other greats; Bud Shank, Jiggs Wigham, Dick Oates, Nick Brignola, Don Lanphere and Bill Ramsay to name a few. Wenda's business style would often include a jam session where the customer's were able to play their newly repaired instruments. All gave Wenda musical advice and encouragement.

Wenda retired her musical instrument repair biz to pursue her true love, composing. She loves all styles of music, and after studying different Latin styles produced her own CD called Latina By Proxy " receiving rave reviews and national air play.

Wenda’s studio experience made her realize that this type of work was in her bones. She pursued more schooling and graduated from The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program.

Wenda has experience recording everything from small ensembles in her own studio to recording a full orchestra plus big band in larger studios for hire. Her compositions have been performed at Benaroya Hall, and she has performed there herself on several occasions. She is currently lead tenor in the North Sound Jazz (Big Band) and sings from time to time at friend’s requests. Groups she has sung and or played for are: Per Isberg’s Little Big Band, Mojo, Friendly Fire, Illusions Salsa Band, Seattle Central Jazz Orchestra, The Evergreen Wind Symphony and multiple musical pit orchestras. Wenda is married to Rick Zonnefeld and they have a son (Jesse) who is also musically gifted. This inspired Wenda to write a curriculum for young students to learn how to improvise Jazz, and has volunteered to teach this mini course at Bellevue Christian School. Turbo is the family's Schnauzer who sometimes acts as Wenda's muse.
