William R. Davis, Jr.

I am Beginning my third year as Piccoloist and assistant 1st chair flutist for the Lower Merion Symphony Orchestra in Lower Merion, Pa. I am also the Woodwind sideman for 15 years+ at Zion Baptist Church in Phila., Pa. I have been teaching and instructing young artist in the Camden City Youth Orchestra for 8+ years. I have been commissioned to record and perform as reed sideman and particularly as flutist. Studied classical flute in college with Celeste Earon and the late Dale Shepfer. Earned Bach. of Music degree from Phila. College of Bible 1982 and Bach. of Art in Music Ed. from Chesnut Hill College 2001. I Maintain membership and attend conventions with the National Flute Association, where I met and conversed with Hubert Laws, my most favorite flutist. Currently I teach and have been teaching music with the School District of Phila. Since my beginning as a musician I've listened to and style my performance and recordings to the likes of my musical idol Hubert Laws, by transcriptions of written solos or by listening and writing them myself.

Winner of the solo Sacred Music performer contest in college 1981 and winner of concerto performance with orchestra in college 1982.
